Package M03: Tam Coc and Halong/Cat Ba

A mini-circuit from Hanoi, with a personal driver and possibly a guide if you wish, to discover two fantastic sites: Lan Ha Bay and the Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex. You will spend one night on the charming boat on the bay of Lan Ha, which will lead you to the heart of a chaotic world of multifaceted rocks on the sea.

Day 1. Hanoi - Ninh Binh (dinner included)

In the morning, around 8am, a private vehicle from Tam Coc Garden picks you up in Hanoi for a two-hour transfer to Ninh Binh. You will be accompanied by a French / English guide upon your request. 

Before arriving to Tam Coc Garden, you will visit one of the following sites of your choice:

  • Van Long Nature Reserve, the largest submerged conservation area in the Northern Delta with thousands of animals, plants, and aquatic organisms. Traditional sampan ride of approximately 1.5 hours amidst the karst rocks rising from the flooded field.
  • The Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex resembling Halong Bay, with a traditional 3-hour traditional sampan ride.

In the early afternoon, the route goes on with the visit of Hoa Lu, ancient capital of independent Vietnam from 968 to 1009 or the Mua Caves (Hang Mua) which will offer you a breathtaking landscape of Tam Coc seen from above.

Arrival at Tam Coc Garden in the late afternoon. Welcome drink and check-in.

Free time. Several activities are possible: rest by the pool; walk or cycle around the valley where our ecolodge is located, enjoy the view of rice fields at sunset; visit the Jade cave 1 km away from Tam Coc Garden; discovery of Vietnamese culture through cooking lessons, traditional embroidery (an additional price will be applied to the experiential activities) etc.

Day 2. Ninh Binh - Halong Bay (all meals included)

Breakfast at the ecolodge then departure to Halong / Cat Ba.

Arrival towards Halong / Cat Ba around noon. Embark on a beautiful junk for a cruise experience in the mythical Halong Bay or Lan Ha.

Situated northeast of Haiphong, Halong Bay is part of the Gulf of Tonkin. It covers an area of ​​1,553 km2 and is sown with thousands of limestone rocks with karst depth.

There are 1969 islands and islets, most of them preserved and uninhabited because of their steep relief. Known in Vietnam for several centuries as the most beautiful landscape in the country, Halong Bay was listed as World Heritage by UNESCO in 1994. It is one of the film sets of the movie “Indochina”  featuring Catherine Deneuve.

During the cruise, various activities are possible depending on the weather conditions: cave visits, climbing to the top of a limestone peak to enjoy a panoramic view of the bay, kayaking, swimming in the middle of the sea.

In the late afternoon, the boat anchors in a regulated park for the night. Lunch and dinner are to be enjoyed on the boat with excellent seafood on the menu. Overnight stay on board in a private cabin.

Day 3. Halong / Cat Ba - Hanoi (breakfast and lunch included)

Second half-day cruise amidst curious and changing shapes. It is advisable to get up early to enjoy the sunrise and the mythical atmosphere of the bay.

Around noon, the boat returns to port for disembarkation. 

Take the road back to Hanoi.
